'The wheel has wheel come full circle'

If you have heard the title song of Yashraj Films' latest offering Neal 'n' Nikki, you must have observed the reaction of the characters ('naaaaahhhh...') to the tune of Tujhe dekha to yeh jaana sanam from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, another Yashraj blockbuster.

This made me think that has wheel come full circle for Yashraj and for Bollywood as a whole! Promotions of Neal 'n' Nikki are advising you to be naughty! Great.

In a sequence of DDLJ the heroine (Kajol) starts crying when the hero (SRK) tells her that she was drunk last night and the two had not only shared but also...! The film was all about coming to India and true love and all the golden virtues of Indian tradition.

The last hit from Yashraj's was Salaam Namaste, which dealt with the protagonists falling in love with each other and indulging in pre-marital sex and the heroine declining to go for abortion! Now tell me isn't this a complete departure from DDLJ? The producers may well say that they only depicted the trend of modern society (with media falling head over heels to prove that films are the mirror of society and its trends and how trends originate from movies)

Whatever happened to those big talks of "responsibility towards society"!
