Sonia Mehra, the daughter of late Bollywood actor Vinod Mehra, debuts with Victoria No 203 and is looking for a glamorous image in Bollywood. Catch the newcomer in a candid conversation with HTTabloid. You have a towel dance sequence in your debut film Victoria No 203. Would you prefer a hot image in Bollywood? I agree that the song is quite glamorous, but it is certainly not obscene. Though I wouldn't mind the tag of a sensuous actress. You are stepping into the shoes of legendry actress Saira Bano in the remake of Victoria.... Don't you think your towel dance will hurt her feelings? I don't think my towel dance will hurt her sentiments at all. On the contrary, she will feel proud of me. I respect and admire the way she has portrayed her character in the original film. | | Wearing skimpy clothes is not an issue: Sonia Mehra | You seem to be quite open about exposure? Yes, because I have not been brought up in a conservative family. I was raised and educated in London, and thus wearing skimpy clothes is not an issue with me. I think, meaningful exposure is justified. I don't find films like Julie and Chameli bold.
Your father late Vinod Mehra was a well-known name in the film industry. How far does that help you? Being his daughter, I had a natural urge to come to Bollywood and act in Hindi films. But lot of people think that it’s very easy for star children to get into films. I don’t agree with that. Unless you have the acting prowess, you will not survive more than one or two films. Are you ready to face the link-up rumours in the film industry? I would let the people talk whatever they want to. I wish to concentrate on my work.
